Internship Day.....whatever

Ok so many other interns have been flakes. Missing days, no call no show and whatever. That's not me! So for someone to say I have "many absenses" is full of shit! I have the er note from the ONE day I was sick. So to fire me over that is horse shit! Then to tell my professor that I am rude, disrespectful, and don't follow dress code....now that person is just flat out lying on me, my character and my integrity! I worked DOUBLES!!!!! I was the only intern that showed up!!!! I loved doing the group sessions. I thought everything was great. But no. Now you want to put some shit on me and now I have to go before a board like a jury trial and let other people determine if I am "Fit to Practice" as a counselor. I am highly agitated. I haven't been able to keep nothing down....all this since Friday. And I spent Friday in the er!!! Why oh why?!?

It just feels like the world does not want to see me succeed. Now all I can do is wait. Fucking great. Smh. This could mean not getting my LPC. And those that know me, know that everything this person said about me is a lie....smh....some people. Fuck. Shit. Damn. I need a drink.

Woman....and the thing is, with all her complaints on me - NOT ONCE did I receive verbal or written re-directives. I was never told my dress was inappropriate. I was never questioned about my attendance. I was never confronted on being disrespectful or anything. She just sent my professor a complaint and said I was fired for those reasons.

Continue doing what you're doing. Go to your trial and keep your composure. SHOW them you are VERY capable of keeping it together by doing JUST THAT. They shouldn't be able to do all of that to you.

Internship day 4 - Topic: Anger, coping skills, and communication. Group was awesome. Met some new clients. Very positive day.

Work however was CRAZY! But in a good way. Worked late so I am super tired. But Hey - its over time!!!!

Internship Day 3

We discusses stress for the most part. But the last hour of group it was open discussion/music. And one of my clients called another client "basket case". The man replied, "do you even know what that means?"

So I Google it and both clients were shocked.....

The term Basket Case originated from WWI, indicating a soldier missing both his arms and legs, who needed to be literally carried around in a litter or "basket." Today it indicates a state of helplessness similar to the metaphoric removal of the appendages, but most frequently in the context of mental health or aptitude.

I learn something everyday from my clients.

Its like speaking to a brick wall when speaking with some people. SMH Really all she needs is some self-esteem and self-empowerment and she would not make the choices she makes. But I have to remind myself that she is young and thinks she knows it all.

This girl I am trying to work with (counsel) was harassed by a classmate. He asked if she would give him head. She reports denying him but since then he started spreading rumors about her. Now she reports that his friends are asking her similar things. She reported that she even wrote him a note apologizing to him.

WTF!? (I said to myself)

I asked Can you explain the purpose of apologizing to him when he is the one who wronged you? She responded -to be nice so he will leave me alone. "I need him to be my friend", she said. So I asked her what qualities does he have that would make him a good friend? She stopped and looked at me for a few moments in silence. She then responded, "He wouldn't be a good friend. I don't know why I want him as a friend."

I have been working on cognitive distortion with her for weeks now. She hasn't made too much progress but the fact that she knows he would not make a "good friend" is something positive to take out of today's session.

You are identified by the people you keep company with. Teenagers are under immense pressure so its easier said than done for her to change peer groups, but it is possible. The change has to come from her

I agree. And I don't expect her to "get better" any time soon. She has suffered some abuse from her mother. She lacks empathy, but obsesses over things and people that are out of reach. And a history of hurting animals. I am waiting the results of a few more assessments.
